The Liberty blockchain is by, for, and with veterans and those who support them. Military families know that while spouses may not receive a medal, they serve and sacrifice on the homefront. This includes maintaining household finances, taking care of the home and children, and living with terror and uncertainty about what may happen to loved ones who are deployed. It is an incredible challenge to be left behind as a spouse heads off to war.

Too often, military spouses are left behind in another way. That way is in terms of employment. According to the U.S. Military Spouse Chamber of Commerce, military spouse unemployment for 2020 is estimated at 38%. Worse yet, military spouses earn on average $12,000 per year less than their civilian counterparts, adding up to nearly $190,000 in lost earnings over a 20-year career, according to a 2018 White House report. That is unacceptable.

As we honor those who serve, we should also honor those who sacrifice so much at home. This is where Liberty sees the blockchain paving the way for a brighter future.

Cryptocurrency military blockchain veterans couple

Liberty, the blockchain, and crypto can benefit military spouses in several ways.

  1. Blockchain development work can easily be done remotely. This means that well-paying jobs are available for spouses overseas and in remote areas of the US. This will help address underemployment issues. The blockchain is for everyone.
  2. Blockchain and crypto are egalitarian. You need to be able to research online and be willing to work hard, and you can find success. Actual blockchain development is a skill, but not one that requires a 4-year degree, so it is much easier to get to work faster, at a lower price.
  3. Blockchain is the future. Over the past 10 years, the blockchain has revolutionized how we interact with technology. The U.S. government is currently considering the creation of a crypto coin that is a legal form of tender. Read more about that here.

The global cryptocurrency cap is around 2 trillion dollars. Enabling military spouses to work on the blockchain as developers or having them employed in other capacities by blockchain firms is a powerful way to level the playing field. In the coming months and years, Liberty hopes to work with military spouses and bring them onto the blockchain.

It is important to note that while crypto coin trading can be lucrative, Liberty is focused on using the blockchain for good, and would encourage everyone interested in crypto to look at the technology and what it delivers, rather than focusing on coins. The blockchain will only grow, and as this incredible new technology transforms the lives of veterans and military spouses, we hope to see it employing them as well.
